BSE to remain open for trade on Feb 1 on Budget Day
Indian stock market i.e. BSE will be open for trading on Saturday, February 1, 2020, on account of the Union Budget.

The trading timings would be as usual starting from 9.15 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. and the pre-open trade would be held from 9 a.m. to 9.15 a.m., the exchange said in a notice late on Tuesday.

Generally, stock markets are closed on Saturdays.

In 2015, the stock markets were open for usual trade on a Saturday as then FM Arun Jaitley presented the Union Budget on February 28, 2015.

This is the second full budget that will be presented by the Modi Government. The last one was presented on July 5, 2019.

On January 20, the Finance Ministry held the "Halwa Ceremony" to mark the beginning of printing budgetary documents in New Delhi. The Halwa Ceremony is a famous ritual, which marks the start of the printing of the budget documents. Understandably, officials who are directly in contact with the budget papers and data are locked down in the basement of the North Block until the Budget is released, given that the papers are highly confidential.
