Sensex, Nifty at day’s low; Bank Nifty down over 300 points.

Equity benchmark indices extended losses and are trading at day’s low in the afternoon session due to weak global cues. The Nifty briefly slipped below the crucial 12,000 mark.

The Sensex was down 201 points or 0.49% at 40,601 and the Nifty fell 73 points or 0.61% to 11,975. The India VIX rose 12% to 15.91.

Bajaj Auto, TCS, Titan, and Tech Mahindra were among the top gainers on the Nifty, while losers included Bharti Infratel, Yes Bank, Tata Steel and Adani Ports.

The Nifty Bank index fell over 300 points ahead of the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) monetary policy committee (MPC) meet over December 3-5, 2019, to review the interest rates.

Shares of Yes Bank tanked 5%, followed by RBL Bank, PNB, Bank of Baroda, IndusInd Bank, and IDFC First Bank.

Meanwhile, the initial public offering of Ujjivan Small Finance Bank (USFB), which got fully subscribed on Day 1 itself, has received 2.45 times subscription so far on Day 2 of the bidding process.
