Nifty Energy index slipped nearly 1% at 15,848.40 levels in the last
hour of the trading session, as the selling pressure was seen in BPCL, Reliance Industries and HPCL.
Shares of BPCL fell over 3.5% after media reports said that the lengthy process of strategic divestment is bound to take BPCL stake sale beyond March 31.
Shares of Reliance dropped 2%, followed by HPCL and GAIL were also down 1% each.
On the other hand, ONGC climbed 1%, while shares of IOC, Adani Transmission, Power Grid, NTPC and Tata Power were up in the Energy index.
From the auto space, the top losers are Bharat Forge, Ashok Leyland, Eicher Motors, Exide Industries, Motherson Sumi Systems and TVS Motor Company.
The Nifty IT continues trading lower dragged by HCL Tech, Tata Elxsi, Tata Consultancy Services, Tech Mahindra, Wipro and Infosys.
The most active stocks are Yes Bank, Reliance Industries, Indiabulls Housing Finance, State Bank of India and HDFC.
